It aims to bring a pragmatic shift in the software procurement process.

The initial primary service offered is to make software information available, all the rest will follow in phases. The local market for this business opportunity is available but not exploited. iPOTT will be a conversion of offline to online information and the service to bring together scattered data onto a single portal.

iPOTT has, in its plan, a number of Secondary (Long term) objectives. But the ultimate objective is to 'Make iPOTT synonym of software'.

RenuV e-consult was born in an IT Does Matter scenario in 2004, with a vision to 'create a change'…. to lead successful implementations.... provide support to critical areas. The consultancy firm today has some prestigious clients. We can add a number of SMEs and individuals to the clientele list. iPOTT was launched by renuV in 2006.

iPOTT has a full fledged team and a well defined process for working. The technical team works on a structured development methodology. The non functional members also work on preset processes. The team shares the vision of the company and hence the progress is on with enthusiasm and courage.

Competitive Analysis

There are a number of websites outside India which lists software. All these sites cater to the online purchase of software. iPOTT has information about software which should be purchased offline and also software which can be bought online. There are a few Indian sites also which displays software related information. They all have a segment on software developers, IT companies and software. We call all these as complimentary sites. Casual visitors from these sites can be converted to 'committed visitors of iPOTT' as they can immediately see the variation in the information available.

WE HAVE NO DIRECT COMPETITION AS OF DATE. But we do have indirect competition.
  • Competition 1: 52% people comfortable buying from a known source.
  • Competition 2: Software vendors are comfortable selling to buyers who have fewer questions to ask. They use a direct selling methodology and have a territory of their own. Many vendors have monopoly in a particular vertical and they are sure to snatch a huge chunk of buyers.
  • Competition 3: Search engines: Need software? Look for it on Google! This is the current mantra. So why iPOTT? - 23% of people look into the web to buy software.
Reasoning Out:
  • There will be a sure transition from the current trend in procurement. It takes only some understanding from the buyer -
    • The software which suits my neighbor may not be right for me.
    • It is beneficial to understand 'needs & requirements' better before short listing.
    • It is better to look at a few more options before the procurement decision, etc.
  • With reference to search engines you will find an entire list of software on search. But the result pages are those with good ranking, with good meta tags or with sponsored listing. It is not a list of all software.
